The Penn-Camden Shuttle Line began operations in 1997 with the opening of a very short 0.3 mile-long spur directly into Penn Station, taking over the former southern-most rail platform. Trains stopping parallel to mainline electrified Intercity Amtrak Trains and MARC Commuter Trains. Service on the shuttle is a single LRV that operates only every 30 minutes between Baltimore's two commuter rail stations. Signs encourage passengers to simply walk the distance between Penn Station and the Mt. Royal/MICA station that is only a six-minute walk.
The Shuttle Line has been suspended indefinitely since September 2019, for a variety of reasons, as of 2025 this is because of the construction of new platforms at Baltimore Penn Station.
