Mt. Vernon (originally Centre Street) is a Downtown Baltimore Light Rail station running on the west side of Howard Street. The stations platforms run for one city block between Center Street and Monument Street. The station’s two side platforms contain a larger shelter with a circular translucent roof on the Southbound platform. The Northbound platform has a half width version with the same design. The shelters were painted blue when I visited in 2009 but are now painted black.

The northbound platform is particularly narrow with all TVMs in shelters in the middle of the southbound platform, with a narrow fence keeping waiting passengers out of traffic. As a downtown station, the surface of the track bed is smooth with stonework, not railroad ballast.
