Convention Center is a Baltimore light rail station located next to Howard Street but with a lot more space compared to stations farther north. Howard Street alongside this station has six lanes, compared to two at the next stop north of Baltimore Arena, and just one lane nestled between the tracks at Lexington Market. This station is directly alongside a grassy plaza outside the Convention Center with a skywalk crossing over the station. This means the Northbound platform is a proper platform and not just a narrow sidewalk median. The two side platforms run from Camden Street to Pratt Street with the mini-high ADA ramps at each end of each platform, making southbound trains stop closer to Camden Street and northbound trains closer to Pratt Street.
The two side platforms each contain a single circular shelter structure just beyond the ADA ramps. These shelters were painted blue when I visited in 2009, but as of 2024 are now painted black. Directly across the street and south of this station is the historic Camden Station built between 1856 and 1857 with this station closer to the historic station than the rebuilt MARC Camden Line Station and connecting next light rail station 500 feet south of this station.
