Univ. of
Baltimore/
Mt. Royal
Mt. Royal/MICA (originally University of Baltimore/Mt. Royal) is the most northern station in Downtown Baltimore along the main Light Rail alignment and is just a six minute just over a quarter-mile walk from Baltimore Penn Station that also has its only little light rail branch. As of 2025 this branch hasn't operated since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic due to a major construction project at Penn Station. The junction of these tracks (that form a single track before the Penn Station terminus) are visible at the northern end of the platforms.
The station contains two side platforms that begin just after the tracks curve slightly after the grade-crossing of Mount Royal Avenue and runs north. This grade-crossing is just signalized no crossing gates. This grade-crossing provides basically the only station entrance, with a secondary set of steps and a short ramp up to a tiny entrance plaza just above the Southbound platform. This is because the stop is built into a slight hill.
Passenger amenities consist of a now black (was white and blue when I visited the station in 2009) shelter structure on each platform. There are still the remaining Blue signs saying the station’s old name University of Baltimore/Mt. Royal.
