Upload: The Detroit Peoplemover

Well, in about 24 hours I am off on my big winter trip to Utah for skiing, then California for the rest of its transit stations and then returning to New York via the Canadian across Canada (making sure I visit Vancouver, WA and ride the Portland Ariel Tramway on my way north). The last transit system I rode and can really upload (Chicago, CTA at least is just a total mess and I am going to wait until I get back their and visit the rest of its stations) from my fall trip is the Detroit Peoplemover, a 13 stop 2.9 mile unidirectional system through downtown Detroit. The system opened in 1987 and was supposed to be the start of more mass transit operations, none of the rest were built, the city has suffered from depopulation and has this mostly federally funded white elephant that has been threatened to be shut down due to budget cuts.
