Mondawmin is the last underground station leaving downtown on the Baltimore Metro. The station services the Mondawmin Mall, a still open fully enclosed shopping mall although its two former anchor tenant spaces have been turned into a planet fitness and grocery store and what was a Target has been turned into a healthcare clinic. The Mall and station area was a flashpoint in the 2015 Baltimore Riots when the subway station and bus service was shut down by the police in the area of the station, standing many transit riders including students at nearby schools who relied on public transportation and were stranded causing major clashes with police.
This station is on the SubwayNut’s revisit list.
