Linthicum opened on April 2, 1993 as the last stop of a four stop extension south of the Baltimore Light Rail. The station today the southernmost one on the Baltimore Light RailLink mainline before it divides into two branches, one to Glen Burnie and another to BWI Airport. The station lacks any parking and consists of two side platforms for the two-track line connected by one central grade-crossing where the two station entrances are along each side of the tracks. The platform amenities consist of a few blue (when I visited in 2009) bus shelters. The southbound platform has two, the Northbound platform one.
The western entrance is from Oakdale Road between a few single-family homes. This entrance contains steps, plus a series of switch backing ramps that make use of a portion of the BWI Trail, running parallel to the light rail tracks through the station.
The eastern entrance is a switchbacking ramp, or a staircase down to a path between a convenience store and a single-family home out to South Camp Meade Road (MD-170) at the T-intersection of Benton Avenue.
