BWI Business District is the one intermediate station on the largely single-track BWI Airport Branch that opened on September 6, 1997. The station through has two side platforms for the two-track line, these are connected by pedestrian crossings at either end with a winder one in the middle of the station. The BWI Airport-bound platform contains a line of four sawtooth bus bays alongside the platform with the light rail track directly across from them, passenger amenties are just bike racks and exposed benches. These lead back to a 36-space parking lot directly behind the bus bays. These light rail parking spaces are all accessible from a single driveway leading in from Elkridge Landing Road with a separate exit driveway.
The Baltimore-bound platform contains a single black with a white-domed roof bus shelter. This covers the station's TVMs. This platform leads back to a very large parking lot that isn't for light rail customers but for BWI Airport Employees with gates at the parking lot entrances. BWI Airport Shuttle buses for employees run from this parking lot. A tall fence divides the light rail platform from the employee parking lot with lots of No Trespassing signs.
