Absecon is an elevated Atlantic City Line station that saw service restored in 1989 and is at the same location as the original station in service until 1981 when NJDOT discontinued subsidizing Conrail to operate the underperforming South Jersey service from Lindenwold to Atlantic City (along with Ocean City and Cape May).
The station contains a high-level elevated side platform along the now single-track with passing sidings line. This platform begins just northwest of the overpass of Station Avenue and runs north along a steep embankment. It begins with a staircase down to Station Avenue that passes behind a now abandoned concrete station house at Street level with garage doors that look like loading docks. This staircase is fully enclosed inside a red canopy structure meeting up with the very 1980s concrete blocks of an elevator up from street level. These elevator buttons could be pushed but the elevator wouldn't come when I visited the station in 2024. These connect to a small waiting area containing a bench next to a TVM.
The rest of the platform is exposed to the elements with plenty of benches. At the northwest end of the platform is a second red canopy structure containing an bench and a staircase down to the station’s 170 space free parking lot only accessible from Station Avenue.
