Fordham Road is a Green Line station that closed on April 20, 2004 to increase train speeds and decrease travel times. The stop consisted off (with a few temporary closure signs remaining on the fence between the tracks) two side platforms each located so trains would stop just before a pedestrian-only crossing of the train tracks and crosswalks to both sides of Commonwealth Avenue. To the north this pedestrian crossing was at the T-intersection of Fordham Road and the service road portion of westbound Commonwealth Avenue. The Inbound platform had a jersey barrier separating it from the higher speed main roadway of Commonwealth Avenue, the Outbound platform had no fencing.
