Morrison Avenue-Sound View (the current name on station) or is it Morrison Av-Soundview (as the subway map and automated announcements say) Morrison-Sound View Avenues (the name on all the platform signs until the 2010 renovations) is a station whose name keeps changing since it opened in 1920 with the original name Sound View Avenue. The station is a typical Westchester Avenue station with two side platforms for the 3-track line. It is skipped by 6 Express trains that only operate in the peak direction, meaning that during the reverse-peak direction the station receives more frequent service than the peak direction.
The station platforms are canopied over their midsections and exposed to the elements for about two car lengths at each end. They are ever so slightly offset from each other, about 20 feet, with Pelham-bound trains stopping slightly farther southwest than Manhattan-bound trains. The canopied portions of the platform have cream with green trim colored windscreens (these replaced corrugated cream-colored windscreens in the 2010 renovations). Small green columns hold up the windscreens, some of these have signs that say Sound View. The exposed portions of the platform have black fencing that looks original and I believe wasn't replaced during the station's rebuilding
The platforms have a single set of two staircases in the middle of each platform. These down to a mezzanine with two separate banks of two turnstiles, and the token booth in between them. From here, three streetstairs lead out to the NE, SE, and SW corners of Morrison Avenue and Westchester Avenue.
