Ravinia Park is a seasonal, special events station and trains only stop during summer evening hours when there is a concert going on at the outdoor Ravinia Music Festival. These concerts run nearly nightly during the season from May to September. Service to the station is provided by normally scheduled weekday trains making the extra stop (with one after concert Inbound train noted that it may be delayed when concerts are over), on weekends there is a special express train to and from Chicago, along with evening trains stopping at the station. The stop has two side platforms and no pedestrian grade-crossings. The platforms are slightly offset from each other with the Inbound platform starting farther north (just beyond the tunnel) than the Outbound platform which begins south and goes over the portal of the pedestrian tunnel. All train passengers are directed to a wide, modern pedestrian tunnel with wide ramps at each end to get between the platforms. This underpass also serves as the main connection to one of the main festival parking lots. The underpass is only open during festival events otherwise it's closed off. The platforms are bare with plenty of signs. I visited the station during a non-event day by riding down the bike path, just to the west of the rail line.
