Ravinia is a Union Pacific North Station, and one of 4 stations (including the special event Ravinia Park station a half-mile south of here) in the City of Highland Park. The station consists of two low-level side platforms that begin at the grade-crossing of Roger Williams Avenue and run south. These platforms are connected by a second pedestrian crossing towards the middle of the platform. On the Inbound platform (to the east, since the ex-Chicago & Northwestern trains utilize left-hand running since all of the station houses are on this side of the railway) is a historic station house with a tall gabled roof and a waiting room opened from 7:00am to 1:00pm, there is no ticket agent. The paint is cream with brown trim. Historic looking wooden signs hang from the rafters of the depot. The outbound platform has a small historic covered area on the opposite platform. Both platforms have small parking lots, with another lot north of the grade-crossing between the inbound track and St. John's Avenue, overall trees and Jens Jensen Park surround the station.
