Falls Road is a Baltimore Light RailLink station located, just before an extremely long gap between stations because two different unincorporated communities, Ruxton and Riderwood, didn't want the perceived crime Light Rail might bring to their communities.
This station consists of two side platforms for the two-track line. These side platforms contain three pedestrian grade-crossings, one at each end and one in the middle of the platforms. Passenger amenities consist of a single black shelter in the middle of the Southbound platform.
The two platforms begin 200 feet north of the grade-crossing of Railroad Avenue that becomes Old Falls Road just north of the grade crossing. This grade-crossing is directly north of Falls Road that crosses over the tracks on a bridge. All access to the station is from the Northbound side of the tracks. The Southbound platform runs along Railroad Avenue, but a tall grey fence prohibits access to the station from Railroad Avenue, so the couple of homes and businesses don't have easy walking access to the Light Rail.
Instead, the station services a 110 parking space park and ride lot with a single driveway entrance from Railroad Avenue. This parking lot has just enough sidewalk space along a concrete pad at the middle of the platforms to accommodate space for one 40 foot bus to stop and layover at the station in the middle of the rows of parked cars. At the northern end of the parking lot a boardwalk leads through some woods and wetlands to the Lake Roland Dam and Lake Rowland Reservoir just beyond. This is an important recreation area.
