Cooper Street / Rutgers University
Cooper Street / Rutgers University is the first of two street-running River LINE stations as the line goes through Downtown Camden. This stop has the most urban development and really feels like a light rail station with two offset side platforms for the two tracks that are embedded in the right lanes of four lane Copper Street on the near side of Second Street. The two station platforms are completely offset from each other with the Trenton-bound platform running from Front Street to Second Street, and the Waterfront-bound platform from Third Street to Second Street.
The station services the Rutgers University Camden Campus with the main historic, university Cooper Library in Johnson Park located in the middle of a park beyond a fountain across from the Trenton-bound platform, and the Camden-bound platform behind the campus's main residence halls. The core of the campus is across 3rd Street and a block north of the station.
