Cass Street is the southernmost stop in the City of Trenton on the River Line. The station is along a section of the line that is double-tracked from about half-way between this station and Bordentown (that becomes rural with trees along the line) all the way to the terminus at Trenton. This means the station consists of two side platforms with short ramps up to them from the grade-crossing with Cass Street leading up to the northern ends of each platform.
There is also access from the southern end of each platform via a pedestrian grade-crossing that connects to a sidewalk leading south from the Trenton-bound platform to the back of the building that is the Mercer County Board of Social Services office.
The artwork at the station platform contains depictions of a baseball field since the Trenton Thunder minor league baseball (until the cuts to minor league baseball in 2020 led to it’s downgrade to a summer college league) team play at the Trenton Thunder Ballpark, less than a half-mile down Cass Street near this station.
