Burlington Towne Centre is a median running River LINE station with a single track for a single platform located in the middle of Broad Street within the Historic District town center of this small, just under 10,000 person town. The section of the River LINE through Burlington operates like a street running Interurban with no crossing lights or gates at grade-crossings, but trains controlled by their own separate ‐ or | traffic lights at each signalized intersections. This is the same signaling system that is used for most light rail lines along with some Bus Rapid Transit lines to indicate a special traffic signal just for transit vehicles and not regular traffic.
This single platform contains entrances at each end that of the platform that leads to crosswalks that head south across the eastbound lanes of Broad Street. To reach the north side of Broad Street, on the opposite side of the train track, one must walk around and cross Broad Street again at either of the two nearest intersections, High Street to the east (railroad north) or Wood Street to the west (railroad south).
The station platform contains an interpretative panel on the Pre-Revolutionary History of Burlington City and its quaker founding, including a historical town map. Column and platform artwork is of birds, corn, bridges, and boats echoing the nearby Delaware River and Assiscunk Creek. Across from a platform entrance is a map showing downtown businesses.
