36th Street is a RiverLINE station located at the northern end of what is entirely a two-track railroad from the switch just north of the station platform all the way to the Waterfront Entertainment Center in Downtown Camden. The station contains a single island platform with entrances via grade-crossings at either end of the platform. This platform is along the edge of three freight siding tracks.
The platform leads out to the middle of the station's 367 space Park & Ride lot. The station and park & ride lot is located between two roadway overpasses, River Road that crosses over northern end of the parking lot, and 36th Street that crosses over the railroad yard south of the station, passing the northern end of the River LINE's storage yard, and maintenance facility off in the distance. To reach both River Road and 36 Street, the station's access roads loop under the respective road overpasses before connecting to each street at intersections on the opposite side of the street from the station. The two entrances both have 36th Street station signs marking the entrances, although only the 36th Street entrance has a sidewalk with the River Road entrance extremely narrow.
Throughout the station area there is some old industrial equipment, including a metal gantry in the middle of the parking lot. There are also some industrial posts along the exit driveway to 36 Street.
