Commerce Street/South 11th Street is the one infill station on the Tacoma Link streetcar through downtown Tacoma. Service began to the station on September 15th, 2011, built using only city of Tacoma funds and is designed to serve new developments in the area.
The stop is also in the midst of the main downtown Tacoma transit mall (although Commerce Street is open to regular traffic as well) with a many Pierce Transit Bus Stops one after another. The two small platforms are located south of 11th Street, the Theater District-bound platform north of the Dome-bound one, where the streetcar runs down the middle of Commerce Street and feature two small side wayside platforms that extend out from the curb. Each has two green metal shelters with a bench inside along with a Sound Transit sign saying Commerce Street. The glass windows of the shelters are etched to show historical images of Tacoma.
