SE 17th Ave & Rhine St Station is located just after trains transition from the Union Pacific Line to running in the median of SE 17th Avenue. The station consists of a single island platform in median of 17th Avenue that begins at the grade-crossing of Rhine Street with a ramp up to the platform from the crosswalk and runs north. The northern end of the platform has an additional exit via a pedestrian crosswalk to each side of 17th Avenue, just north of Haig Street that is split into two by the light rail. The eastbound lanes of 17th Avenue gently curve away from the light rail station before crossing the tracks north of the station to avoid having a sharp cruve. This extra space is primarily planted with grass and contains Passage by Bill Will, consisting of 38 weathered steel rowboats, both across from the station and north and in medians north and south of the station. There is also a bike rack in a small plaza before the crosswalk from the northern entrance.
The platform has two platform canopy structures with solar panels. The columns have mosaics depicting rowboats as part of the Journey Through Time art installation at multiple stations.
