Cascades Station is in a transit oriented development and opened in January 2007 when the development of big box stores around the station occurred. The stop is not an infill station because it was built with the rest of the line when it opened on September 10, 2001 trains just did not stop until the surrounding area developed. The stop consists of two wide side platforms each with a large single canopy with blue tinted glass windscreens beneath them. The stop is located just south of Cascades Parkway in the middle of Y intersection (the two lanes of traffic vear and run on each side of the platform) where Mt. St. Hellens Avenue forms a T-intersection with it, the two grade crossings at each end of the platforms across Mt. St. Hellens Avenue are fully gated.
