Ramsey (also marketed as Ramsey-Main Street since the Ramsey Route 17 station opened in 2004) is a historic NJ Transit Main & Bergen County Line station. The station has two 7 car long low-level side platforms for the two tracked line that begin at the grade-crossing of Main Street, that provides the only connection between the platforms, and run south ending at mini-high platforms for wheelchairs to board at one train door.

Along the Hoboken-bound platform is a historic station house built in 1868 by the Erie Railroad and is the oldest active depot in the state of New Jersey, strangely the platform signs have the modern format lettering, not the old app caps lettering designed to be used at historic stations. The Victorian depot is grey with red trim and a gabled roof. This station house is open during the AM rush hour and contains a ticket office (closed as of March 2021, because of COVID-19) some wooden benches and restrooms. Historic photographs dot the walls.

Each platform leads out to a parking lot, with 205 spaces along the Hoboken-bound platform, and 147 spaces along the Port Jervis-bound platform. All parking lots are by permit only during weekdays. Passengers who want to park for just a day need to head 1.3 miles north to the new Ramsey Route 17 station that opened in 2004 and has a parking garage.
