Atlantic Street is served by cars for Broad Street only. The light rail here, like in all places is in its own lane on the east side of Atlantic Street between Bridge Street and Lombardy Street. Interestingly traffic along Atlantic Street goes the opposite direction. The station is a simple side station that takes up the entire sidewalk that rises up to the proper platform height. The platform the unique line of red name signs/florescent lights that runs the entire length of the platform. The northern half has a modern canopy. On the exposed portion of the platform wavy aluminum red tubes forms a postmark for Newark NJ 07102. One the sides of the tubes are numerous vintage postcards from Newark's past, with some engraved into the platform/sidewalk pavement. Along the tactile warning strip are the lyrics and embedded in the cobblestones of the track are the notes to 'Night Dreamer' by Wayne Shorter, part of Athena Tacha's celebration of Jazz that occurs at every Newark Light Rail Station.
