Montello is Park & Ride station that services the northern city of Brockton. The station (at the southern end of the Park & Ride across from the platform) is also the southern terminus of MBTA bus Route 230. Route 230 provides roughly hourly service to Quincy Center. Connections are also available to BAT (Brockton Area Transit Buses) although BAT route 12 runs from Downtown Brockton all the way to Ashmont (with connections to the MBTA Subway) stopping a quarter-mile west of the station along Main Street. Although there are some transferring BAT-MBTA passengers this station isn’t the location of a complete change at the edge of town between bus systems situations for passengers who value money (much slower buses) over time (more expensive, faster, Commuter Rail).

The station itself is located on a long passing siding along this line that extends from north of this station all the way to south of the Downtown Brockton Station. This means the station has two high-level platforms for the two-track line. These platforms begin with a pedestrian-only grade-crossing (with lights, no crossing arms) at the southern end of the platforms and extend north. The platforms are canopied for their northern-most two cars (by a simple silver canopy structure) starting at the grade-crossing with another canopy structure for a single car in the middle of the normally used for Inbound trains platform.

The two platforms each lead out to parking lots with a total of 351 parking spaces that are not directly connected with each other. The parking lot on the Outbound side is significantly smaller with just rows of angled parking on each side of single driveway, its entrance is from Wilmington Street towards the middle of the platform. This parking lot is at a slight angle, resulting in the spaces at the southern end being at the same level as the high-level platform.

The parking lot on the Inbound side is significantly larger with a central pick-up and drop-off area right near the pedestrian grade-crossing. This parking lot is accessible from parallel Spark Street just beyond the parking lot, with the only vehicular entrance to the parking lot at the intersection of Spark and Sylvan Streets where Sylvan Street would have ended at a T-intersection. This intersection is the location of the closest BAT bus stop along looping Route 10/11 across the street from the station entrance.
