Randoph/Wabash is a downtown Loop Station with the usual two side platforms without a free crossover or under. The two wooden platforms have canopies in their midsections where the exits are and exposed areas at both ends where extensions were made to accommodate longer trains, the Inner Loop platform is longer than the outer one a bit farther south. Access to the station is from one of four staircases down to each corner of Randolph and Wabash. These lead up to an intermediate lower mezzanine entirely outside of fare control. Access to the platforms is slightly different: On the Outer Loop platform (Brown and westbound Green Lines) two staircases lead directly up to fare control situated in covered area along the platform. The inner loop platform (Purple, Orange, Pink, and southbound Green Lines) is more complicated with two exit only staircases leading directly down from the platform to a high turnstile for each on the mezzanine level. Entering passengers must take a short staircase from the mezzanine that splits into two up into a little station house where they pay their fare before going out to the platform. There is an additional exit from the Inner Loop Only, at the northern end of the canopy, with a high turnstile directly on the platform before a staircase down to the west side of Wabash Avenue just south of Benton Place.

Station Closure: The station was permanently closed at 2:30am on Sunday, September 3, 2017 after the Washington/Wabash Station opened on August 31 one block south combining the stop with Madison/Wabash. Passengers were given a few days of trains stopping at both stations for the transition. As of February 2018 most evidence of the former station has been removed, allowing more daylight to the sidewalks below.
