Adams/Wabash is an important loop transfer point (since the junction that the Southside Green Line and Orange Line use is just south of the station) and the stop has three different ways to change directions between the two side platforms. The two side platforms are canopied for virtually their entire lengths, in the middle of the platforms above where they cross above Adams Street they become glass skylights. Like most stations in the loop there are no windscreens on the sides of the platforms with just a low fence. There are two overpasses, one towards each end of the station, that connect the platforms their both canopied. Fare control is located on a small mezzanine level beneath the platforms. Here two staircases lead down from each platform to a very small area within fare control with a free crossunder with turnstiles on two sides and high turnstiles between the staircases. A walkway wraps around this area and there is another staircase down from each platform directly to a high turnstile along the walkway across from the entrance area. A single streetstair leads out to each corner of Adams and Wabash. The Inner Loop (Purple, Orange, Pink, and southbound Green Lines) has a second exit via a high turnstile towards its southern end. This leads down to the west side of Wabash Avenue a short way down the block from the main entrance.
