Grand Hyatt at SFO opened as an infill station on the AirTrain on October 7, 2019 at the same time as the opening of the new on airport hotel. The station consists of a new island platform servicing the Red Line on the clockwise inner terminal only loop, and the Blue Line on the counter-clockwise outer terminal loop.
The stop feels like an extension of the luxury hotel, the modern platform with white walls and indirect lighting smells different than every other AirTrain Station. To leave the platform a set of escalators and two elevators lead down to a full length mezzanine beneath the AirTrain platform. This is home to a large public art installation, of colorful stained glass along one wall We will walk right up to the sun, 2019, by Sarah Cain.
To reach the hotel passengers go by what feels like a concierge desk (it was unstaffed midmorning on a Saturday when I stopped at the station) that leads to a very short skybridge directly into the hotel lobby right by the check in desks on the 4th floor of the hotel. Guest rooms are above this floor with the hotel's meeting spaces and other public amenities, like resturants on the lobby floor and three lower floors below. This includes a car loop with valet parking for hotel guests is on the ground floor, with all hotel guests needing to pass through the 4th floor to get to their guest rooms with two separate banks of elevators one set for going down, one for going up.
