Washington Street is an intermediate station which opened on June 15, 1996 and is along the stretch of the trolley where it's two tracks are just east of those used by the ATSF used by Amtrak and Coaster. The station has the standard two slightly elevated side platforms that must be elevated two more inches to allow low-floor S70 operations. The platforms begin at and extend north from the grade crossing with Washington Street, which provides there only entrances. The Downtown-bound platform is along a high pink wall between it and the mainline train tracks. The other platform has a lower pink wall with a fence on top of it. The platforms each have two black metal bus stop style shelters covering a bench for waiting passengers.

From July 2, 2011 to November 24, 2011 the station was closed for retrofitting for the S70 low-floor cars. The Green Line took over operations on September 2, 2012.
