Palomar Street (Chula Vista) is an original Blue Line station where the line's original use as a freight line is still exhibited. The station has three tracks all covered by the standard concrete. Only the western two tracks are actually under catenary wire with San Diego-bound trains stopping on the middle track and opening their doors on the required for ADA access right side and requiring passengers to cross the un-wired freight lead into industries south of the station. The station is just south of the Palomar Street grade crossing and the northbound stopping area is along a 305 space parking lot, with buses stopping directly along the edge of the platform with the standard brown large canopied pavilion in the middle of the platform. The San Ysidro-bound platform has two red canopied bench structures and a chain link fence, at each end a short staircase and ramp leads up to the sidewalk of Industrial Blvd parallel to the station.

The station was under renovation from March 20, 2014 to Late October 2014. During these renovations the 3rd unelectrified track has been completely removed and there is no longer any evidence of it. There are now two 6 inch high side platforms connected by two completely level crossings at each platform end, plus two that require stepping down in the middle of the platforms. Ballast has replaced the normal cross the tracks anywhere concrete. The station now looks like a normal renovated Blue Line station with two larger cream colored canopies along each platform. The ones along San Diego-bound platform are wider and double up as shelter for passengers waiting for buses at the 4 bus loops direclty along the platform, plus a fifth one along the southern edge of the platform. Fencing and planters have gone in to more clearly define and seperate the bus loop that from the Park & Ride lot. Photos 1-26 taken on 22 March, 2011; 27 to 28: 28 December, 2019
