Alavardo Medical Center Station (the horizontal signs just say Alavarado Station) is on the newest section of the San Diego Trolley which opened on July 8, 2005 and has two side platforms and is located along the southside of I-8, with the Old Town-bound platform having a concrete wall (with lampposts hanging from it) along it it. The Santee-bound platform is directly alongside Alvarado Road with a pull in space for buses but the station doesn't have a parking lot. Each platform has sections of three glass canopies one at each end and in the middle, On the Santee-bound platform they are double the width since it hosts the entrance plaza. All locations have two seperate sections of glass canopies except the middle one on the Sante-bound platform which is four sections since it is located in the platform entrance area. Greenery, with some planted trees and ivy growing along the concrete walls, is along both platforms, all part of the resident artist Roman de Salvo.
