47th Street is a slightly elevated Orange Line Station just west of the 47 Street underpass. The station has the required two side platforms, the Gillespie Field-bound platform has the only form of shelter, the standard large brown one found at all of the Blue Line Stations. Access is mainly via staircases and a ramp down to a 110 space parking lot from this platform. The Downtown-bound platform has no coverings but another entrance to a townhouse development north of the station. As of May 2012 the station is being rebuilt to allow for the operations of S70s on the orange line (with trains still stopping).
