Irwindale has two side platforms for the two track Gold Line that are located just to the north of an existing freight track, making the eastbound platform more like an island platform. The station is located just east of the overpass across the tracks for Irwindale Avenue. This bridge leads to an interchange with the I-210 freeway just north of the station. Access to the two side platforms is exclusively from the south via a pedestrian grade-crossing from Avenida Padilla that requires all passengers to cross the freight track west (and in daylight) of this overpass. The two platforms each begin with ramps from this entrance that lead to a single canopy structure covering the TVMs, before leading to the actual platforms with a single canopy structure on each platform.
The station entrance has a set of outdoor bike racks and a bus stop (located under the overpass) for one connecting Foothill Transit Route 185 which makes a deviation in both directions off of the Irwindale bridge to serve the light rail station. The station has a three story 350 space paid parking structure along the south side of Irwindale Avenue's bridge across Avenida Padilla that requires all parkers to cross the street.
