20 Avenue is a standard BMT West End Line elevated station. The stop is a local stop with two side platforms for the three tracks including the middle track that is occasionally used for diversions although it has never seen regular revenue service. The stop has a single entrance at the middle of the platform where two staircases lead down from each platform to a station house beneath the tracks, here the turnstiles and waiting area are and staircases down to each of the corners of 20 Avenue and 86 Street. The platforms have canopies in their middle sections but are windscreened their entire lengths.
