DMUs although popular in Europe are extremely rare in the United States because of strict FRA compliant standards. Four systems in the US use European cars on freight tracks but they have to be time separated. There is only one system (that opened in 2009) completely designed around them using both unique modern DMUs from Colorado and ancient 1952 Budd RDCs (that are being used as the leased starter service for the DCTA A-Line Commuter Rail until FRA compliant units are delivered), it is called Westside Express, WES for short and runs during rush hours only from Beaverton (connecting to MAX Light Rail) to Willisonville, Oregon in the Portland suburbs, here are the stations:
- Beaverton TC–(36 WES photos)
- Hall/Nimbus–(16 photos)
- Tigard TC–(37 photos)
- Tualatin–(23 photos)
- Wilsonville–(42 photos)
Enjoy! that concludes everything the Pacific Northwest until I decide what to do with all my streetcar pictures.
