Greetings from the 8:15 Bolt Bus run to Newark on which I am the only passenger which feels strange.
I decided to do something I’ve been meaning to do for the entire summer go spend the day on an independence pass in Philly, I hadn’t gone there to railfan since 2006, and now the day pass is $11 it is valid on regional rail unlimited use after 9:30am.
I came down by the new Greyhound Express service, the cheapest when I decided to do this trip only 2 days in advance. Boarding was just like southwest airlines they’ve changed the standard line to numbered rows. We arrived at suburban station just ten minutes late at 10am and I walked from the greyhound station to Market East, bought my pass, and decided to spend what I thought would take only a few hours but in fact until 3ish doing a station to station by train and on foot of both the Chestnut Hill East and West branches that run very close to each other.
Then I went to try and ride to new Silverliner-Vs and do another line during rush hour and found a ride on the Wilington Line that would end with one of the Silverliner Vs. I made photo stops at Glenodon, Ridley Park, Chester T.C. Before doubling back at Marcus Hook and a stop at Eddystone before the the 5:43 departure from Newark, DE came in but was conventional stock not what the schedule claimed. I took that back to 30th St.
I had an hour before my bus and decided to do a quick Market St el ride out to 52nd and back getting of at 34th and walking to 33rd on the trolley subway to return to 30th St where I bought some dinner for the bus and waited outside a dark
Bolt Bus surrounded by Mega Bus passengers before the driver got up and turned her lights on said New Jersey 3 times, I was the only passenger and I got on and we left at 8:15. The reason I decide on Newark was it had the best fare $7 and departure time 7pm and 9pm seemed to early and late.
Thats where I bring you this post on my iPhone at exit 8A on the Jersey Turnpike. I’ll take PATH home from Hoboken.
