Well I decided to take a bit of a break from writing my thesis and upload some of my continuos LIRR on the same branch stations I photographed when I was at home, you can read about my adventures to photograph these stations in this upload on January 4 and 5. These station pages are now all connected with click banners and arrows making navigation easy along the branch. Please note that for my ease of uploading sake all of the banner images are generated by tables so different banners will display them differently. Making station banners seems like a waste of the additional time when a table can generate an image that looks almost the same in most web browsers. Anyway, here is the upload of all of the Hempstead Branches stations:
- Hollis–(30 photos)
- Queens Village–(16 photos)
- Bellerose–(rebuilt with 27 new photos)
- Floral Park–(40 photos)
-
Nassau Blvd–(32 photos)
- Garden City – (34 photos)
- Country Life Press – (37 photos)
- Hempstead – (25 pictures plus 6 of artwork)
Also a note about how I’m planning to make the next station click banners: I realize that on the Long Island Railroad there numerous express service combinations and that, for example in this upload you can click from Floral Park to New Hyde Park although there very few trains that stop at both stations. For the purposes of my LIRR site navigation you will have to go through every local stop, I’m planning to incorporate the banners as the next stop geographically, it is simply to complicated to try and make express banner clicks, and stations when they come on-line such as Jamaica (which I’ve fully photographed) will be even more overwelmed with Next Stop banners than they will be already (Jamaica for example will require 3 or 4 (haven’t decided how to tackle the Hunterspoint Av/L.I.C yet) Next Stop clicks and would simply be an entire page of clicks if I were to include even just the major express sections).
Enjoy! I should get through with the Atlantic Branch and West Hempstead Branch soon!
