The Sunset Transit Center is located in an open-cut trench on the northside of the Sunset Highway (a freeway US-26). The station is almost purely a Park & Ride and transfer point except for a suburban office park within walking distance. The stop has two side platforms for the two track line, these each have simple concrete walls with glass canopies hanging from them providing shelter on the platforms. Access to the platforms is via a staircase down to each at either end. The western end of the platform also has two glass elevators up to the main entrance where Java City is located between two TVMs and the 587 space parking garage. Access to this parking garage is via an access road from Barnes Road that loops through the station. Buses stop just above the platforms. The plaza above the station has a plaque for Congresswoman Elizabeth Furse for the area between 1992 and 1998.
