Mall/SW 5th Avenue opened as an infill station March 26, 1990 and was closed on March 1, 2020 to speed up MAX trains on their trips going through downtown.
In the station's 30 year life it was a uni-directional sidewalk level station on the south side of Morrison Street between SW 4th and 5th Avenues. The platform was just a sidewalk with a tactile warning strip, a few station signs and information panels and TVMs. The stop provided connections to the Transit Mall and the southbound Green and Yellow Lines at Pioneer Place/SW 5th, its sister station is Mall/SW 4th Avenue.
