Annandale is the second to last stop on the Raritan Valley Line's limited-service western extension beyond Raritan. As a historical sign at the station states "The Central Railroad of New Jersey was built west from Elizabeth and Jersey City in the 1830s, reaching Easton in 1852 (including this station in 1852). This stop spawned the town of Clinton Station, renamed Annandale in 1873." The stop had a depot that was built in 1934, the station agent eliminated in October 1970, with the depot demolished in 1983.
The station has a single ground-level side platform on the south track of the two-track line, since the station is along a section of double track between just east of the station at the Clinton siding that continues to High Bridge. This platform is short, covering just two cars and the concrete extends all the way to the southern track, with short sections of concrete extending beyond this track to the northern track allowing two sets of end of car doors to open on each side of one car on stopping trains. This platform begins at the private grade-crossing of Main Street Extension and runs east. This grade-crossing has no gates or bells. Main Street Extension is a private dead-end road that leads to about 4 houses. The platform has one amenity a handi-hut inc. black shelter with a white roof that covers the station's TVM, and some trash cans adjacent to it. The shelter has a built in black bench along its outer wall. The platform leads out to and is alongside a 77 space parking lot with free parking.
