Cannondale services a neighborhood of the Town of Wilton and is less than 2 miles north of the namesake station. The station has a historic Victorian-era station building that was built in 1892 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1992 as part of the Cannondale Historic District. This building is painted red and is a one-story building with a gabled roof and overhanging eaves.
The station building is located just north of the grade-crossing of Cannon Road that provides all access to the station. The depot is at the southern end, via the only entrance and exit – with two different one-way driveways, into the station’s 140 space parking lot.
The former low-level platform for the one-track line was directly in front of the historic depot, this has been turned into a little garden, primarily with rocks, but also some stone pavers. There is a single tree just ouside of it
The modern short 2 car, 200 foot long high-level platform begins just north of the depot (where a bike rack is) and extends north. This platform is narrow with a simple black framework canopy covering the entire length of the platform. The railings have blocks of steel and there are some metal (without hostile architecture) benches, plus some green Metro-North Railroad 3 bin “trash and recycling centers.” Access begins via staircase from the southern end of the platfrom into the garden by the station house. This is followed by the start of an ADA ramp that ends towards the middle of the platform, followed by a second stairacse off the platform, these lead down to the station’s parking lot. There is a final third staircase off the northern end of the platform for further parking lot access
