The MBTA Commuter Rail is Boston's comprehensive Commuter Rail System with 136 active stations along 394 miles of track. The system offers two distinctive networks of routes split into two by no downtown rail line directly through downtown Boston. Although the system operates one line on the nearly fully electric Northeast Corridor, the line operates entirely with diesel push-pull trainsets, older cars are single-level, more modern cars are bi-levels with level boarding at high-level platforms and steps required for boarding at all low-level platforms, many of which have mini-high platforms allowing level boarding at one door for wheelchair accessibility. The system is comprehensive with lots of hard-to-reach stations with limited service. As of 2024, only four Commuter Rail Lines have comprehensive converge, with lots of the system unphotographed, although I hope to take some future trips to Boston to eventually finish this commuter rail system:
