2nd Street is the first station on the northern branch of the HBLR that opened on September 7, 2004 and is at the base of the Hudson Palisades, where trains are running along the Hoboken/Jersey City border. The station has two side platforms each with a single canopy towards their southern ends. This end has all station access. Access is via a pedestrian crossing that connects both platforms and leads directly to an entrance plaza. This plaza is at the end of a cul-de-sac turnaround loop for Marshall Street that enters from the and provides the only access to the station. The entrance plaza also contains another canopy with the station's ticket validators and TVMs. The platforms here are a fare paid zone.
