South Boulevard is the first intermediate stop in Evanston on the Purple Line. The station has one quite narrow concrete island platform covered by a canopy held up by simple white metal posts except at its extreme northern end. This platform is made of concrete and has a central wooden windscreen as well as a plexiglass one. The platform has old blue signs with white text for St. Francis Hospital. To leave the platform there are two staircases down from it. The staircases are notable because they have white wooden enclosures around them with white wooden doors. The banisters are purple. These lead down to a small brick station house built in 1931 located beneath the 'L's embankment at the NW corner of South Blvd and Chicago Avenue. The station house has some windows and an excellent white terra-cotta decorative facade with Rapid Transit written in Green Letters above the entrance doors. There are modern lampposts outside hanging from the facade.
