Maywood is a limited service stop on the Union Pacific West Line. During off peak hours alternate trains stop at the station (on Weekends this roughly translates into service every 4 hours, and every 2 hours on weekends), those stop here, skip Melrose Park and vice-versa. Rush hour service is more frequent with some express trains skipping the station. The stop was recently renovated, back in 2008 there was just a single platform along the north track with a black bus shelter . Today's modern waiting room was dedicated on June 30, 2017.
The current station consists of two side platforms for the two track line that begin at the grade-crossing of 5th Avenue and run east. There are no further pedestrian crossings between the platforms. The newer outbound south platform has a tactile warning strip, with no other features. The inbound platform contains the recently opened modern brick station house. The station house is open 5:00am to 8:00pm Weekdays, and 8:00am to 7:00pm on Weekends. Inside is a waiting room with bright white walls and a bench which is built into the side of the structure. There are no restrooms. The bench has Metal bars try an prevent folks from lying down on it. The station house is on a concrete berm and slightly elevated from the inbound platform which lacks a tactile warning strip and could probably use some more leveling work. A few steps and ramps lead down from the station house to the platform. Additional longer flights of stairs lead from the station house down to Main Street, parallel to the station. Parking at this station is minimal, with a small lot across Main Street at 5th Avenue and additional parking on Main Street.
