River Trail is an island platform station located in the median of Winston Street that begins at and goes south from the intersection of W 2320 S, this provides one platform entrance and there is a simple pedestrian crossing to each side of the street at the south end. The island platform has two canopy structures with prints of yellow flowers on the small glass windscreens. The stop is the first on the West Valley City branch and between this station and Central Pointe where it joins the main line trains, the line rises up to onto a bridge to over the Jordan River Parkway trail, South Salt Lake City Yard — one of the two TRAX train yards — the Union Pacific Railroad (and soon to be FrontRunner South tracks) and goes under I-15.
