Center Pkwy/Washington St is the last stop north of Tempe's downtown before the line crosses over the Town Lake Bridge on the only substantial section of private ROW. It is a bridge built specifically for the Metro. The station itself is called Central Drive because of the nearest intersection but the only legal entrance at the west end of the platform is to a spilt pedestrian only intersection that is called Center Parkway station on the street signs. This intersection is a bit closer to Mill Avenue, as the tracks curve off Washington Street and join a single freight track (formerly used by the Sunset Limited when it ran via Phoenix) before running beneath the Loop-202 Freeway and cross the Town Lake on their parallel but new bridge to the old freight bridge.
