Marble Hill is located on the Harlem River just after trains coming north go under the Broadway Bridge. The station located in the Marble Hill neighbrohood is technically in Manhattan, this tiny area is located in Manhattan because it was once part of the island, before the Harlem River Ship canal was built. The unnavagable river ran before being fulled in a bit farther north. The station is a convienint connection to the 1 and 9 subway lines at 225 Street-Marble Hill meaning its a common transfer point. The station is currently being rebuilt and currently the only platform is a short and curved temperary wooden island platform between two of the three tracks (One track doesn't platform, that one is closest to the river), which has a temperary staircase that leads to the bridge over the outbound track and up another staircase to street level. The overpass is a small enclosed heated waiting area, with no benches. There are no benches on the temperary platform either, where only 2 cars platform, usually the first two. The station before its rubuilding proccess had one full length island platform located much farther away from the bridge, unlike the current one that's almost under it.
NOTE: As of 7 June, 2005 the new station has platform as re-opened, the temperary staircase and platform have been completely dismantled.
