Harriman is a Metro-North Station on the NJT Transit Operated Port Jervis Line. The station is located two miles south of the New York State Thruway Exit 16, (the southern most point of the ticketed portion of the Thruway), and has no sidewalk access, simply an access road Google Maps label it as 'Metro N' this leads to a gigantic parking lot with 985 parking spaces. This location isn't original, the stop was put here in 1984, when the line was moved off the main line that went through the towns to a freight cut-off, so the line became the only one in the Metro-North system with suburban stations that have large Park & Ride Lots. The simple station platform was renovated in the early 2000s. The station is located parallel to the thruway but in summer the foliage on trees nicely hide the highway, in winter the highway is visible through the bare trees. The station has a single platform, but the line becomes two tracks at the southern end of it, that is long and low-level (better for freight operations) with a mini-high level platform at its southern end. The platform is quite long (probably 8 cars) and a high painted green canopy covers it for most of its length. Towards the center of the platform, facing the kiss & ride loop is a decorative scketch of a steam engine pulling into a town. This is also where the platform's two New Jersey Transit (although they also say Metro-North Tickets on them) modern touch screen TVMs are. The platform has some outside benches but also three small enclosed shelters one has a bench in it two don't. At the entrance from the station's roadway is some landscaping and a Harriman station sign for arriving motorists.
