Danbury (Metro-North Danbury Branch)

Danbury is the terminal of Metro-North's Danbury Branch which isn't electrified. The Danbury branch is usually served by a shuttle from South Norwalk of two Shoreliner Cars and a Genesis P32AC-DM Locomotive, except that there are two peak-direction rush hour trains that come directly from Grand Central, with a P32AC-DM dual mode locomotive and lots more shorelineres (I think 8 usually). The station is located on the edge of a rail yard which is the Danbury Rail Museum. The tracks loop around the yard which also has the station parking lot inside it, trains layover on the tracks near the rail museum. (For more info see my Danbury Trip Log) The Metro-North railroad station has mostly a narrow platform that can fit maybe 5 cars there is also a stub-track that ends half-way through the station that fits maybe two cars, The stup-track ends at a station house, that has a waiting room but the ticket office has now been closed. There are is a ticket vending machine on the platform. There is a parking lot between the Metro-North tracks that loop around the parking lot and the rail museum yards. To enter the parking lot there is a single road that crosses the loops tracks at a level crossing. The level crossing is a good place to photograph your train entering from the lay-up tracks.
