Downtown Crossing (formerly Washington) is a Red Line station and one of the 4 main stations beneath downtown Boston. The stop has two crowded side platforms for the two track line with staircases up to the Orange Line at the platforms western ends, along with exits to Summer Street and Washington street, and the Winter Street Concourse, a pedestrian tunnel that leads all the way to Park Street giving this station a free transfer to the green line. There is an additional exit towards the eastern end of the station up to Chauncy Street and Summer Street.
